For many years, the public-safety community struggled with the many land mobile radio systems being spread out over various portions of the radio spectrum, which resulted in the inability for neighboring agencies to communicate directly with each other when needed. This lack of interoperability led the public-safety community to call for a single, nationwide, public-safety broadband network that would provide full interoperability. This network became a reality in 2012 when Congress passed and the then-President signed a bill to establish this new network and provide some basic funding to start the project.
FirstNet is now operational across the United States, with public safety agencies embracing its high-speed mobile broadband data capabilities to improve emergency response and drive operational efficiencies. Arising from the ashes and anguish of 9/11, FirstNet enables life-saving situational awareness by boosting communications functionality used by emergency responders.
AirgainConnect AC-HPUE is the first and only antenna-modem, built for FirstNet® MegaRange™, the high power user equipment (HPUE) solution available on Band 14. The AirgainConnect platform combines a FirstNet Ready™ integrated HPUE LTE modem and antenna assembly in a single enclosure. This rugged vehicle antenna-modem solution meets the most demanding requirements of Public Safety and Fleet vehicles, providing substantially increased performance for critical communications. AC-HPUE delivers the maximum allowable radiated power directly to the LTE antenna elements.

Airgain announced it is collaborating with AT&T on field trials and orders for its AirgainConnect high-power user equipment (HPUE) product, in preparation of the FirstNet HPUE service launch.
Airgain recently announced that the company’s AirgainConnect AC-HPUE antenna-modem has earned FirstNet Ready status and is being used by FirstNet contractor AT&T during field trials of high-power user equipment (HPUE) in preparation for the launch of HPUE service slated for early next year.
