High Power Class 1 LTE

 

A typical User Equipment (UE) device on a cellular network in the U.S. runs on power Class 3 with a maximum output of 0.25 watts. The AT&T FirstNet network, built for first responders, permits a special class of High Power User Equipment (HPUE) to run on Class 1 power instead with a maximum output of 1.25 watts. This 8dB of higher power is exclusive to HPUE devices on FirstNet Band 14.

Integrated Antenna-Modem

Our innovative AirgainConnect® platform increases power even more by integrating the Class 1 power modem directly into the antenna assembly. Invehicular installations, the signal strength fades significantly as it flows to and from the modem, typically located in the trunk of a vehicle. The loss is significant in most installations where 16-foot cable runs are typical, resulting in the loss of over 2dBm. Recovering lost power is only possible by integrating radio components directly into an assembly that contains an external antenna. As a result, the antenna-modem provides a significant boost in signal power exiting the vehicle. The additional gain of the AirgainConnect antenna-modem with integrated HPUE yields a total improvement of up to 1000% (10dB) over a legacy Band 14 device restricted to lower power Class 3.
