Airgain Smart Antenna Technology Selected by Westell for new ADSL2+ Gateway

Provider of broadband access products to use patented smart antenna solution in next generation gateway product

Carlsbad, CA, June 5, 2006 — Airgain, Inc., a developer of high-performance smart antenna solutions for the WLAN market, announced today that Westell Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: WSTL), a leading provider of broadband access products and gateways, has incorporated Airgain's patented smart antenna technology into its next generation wireless ADSL2+ gateway product. The new VersaLink™ Gateway with SmartBeam™ technology features Airgain's A2475 Ministar smart antenna, an embedded antenna solution that utilizes a switched beam architecture to deliver up to 200 percent greater signal strength and receive sensitivity than conventional antenna solutions.

"Westell prides itself in providing our customers with the most advanced wired and wireless networking products available on the market today," stated Gordon Reichard, Jr., vice president of marketing for Westell. "The design and functionality of the Airgain A2475 smart antenna allows us to meet our customers' needs for greater wireless range, higher throughput, and increased connectivity, while maintaining our commitment to delivering cost effective solutions for today's market."

The A2475 Ministar smart antenna utilizes multiple antenna beams which redirect radio energy where it is needed, providing up to 7dB of directional gain. These directional antenna beams are then driven by proprietary switching software which constantly monitors the wireless connection for all associated client stations, identifying and selecting the best beam pattern for each individual client while performing precision beam switching to serve each active client with the optimal signal. When integrated into a wireless gateway product, the A2475 smart antenna provides greater throughput, less interference, and increased wireless range compared to traditional Wireless-G gateways, access points and routers.

"We work closely with our customers to provide them with smart antenna solutions designed to meet their needs for cost-effective, high-performance wireless connectivity," said Pertti Visuri, chief executive officer of Airgain. "The launch of the new VersaLink Gateway represents a tremendous validation of our smart antenna technology, and reflects Westell's commitment to delivering leading-edge wireless solutions that allow consumers and businesses to take full advantage of the latest high-speed
